Owner and Founder
Cliff Chunn is the president and mastermind behind CD Chunn & Associates. Not only is Cliff a superstar medical writer unto himself, but he has an uncanny ability to spot and recruit highly talented medical writers from a crowd of millions. In fact, he can spot talent at 100 paces, blind, and with both hands tied behind his back. He is dynamic, capable, and energetic, and has an incomparable intuition for pairing the perfect writers with the project team who needs them most. His writing and sparkling management skills will wow you, but you’ll find that his wit and sincerity are the cherries on top. Cliff is based in Orange County, California, where he dwells with his wife and two sons. He’s into cooking, craft beer, and music you’ve probably never even heard of.
Cliff was most recently Senior Director of Global Medical Writing at Allergan and has over 20 years of experience managing medical writing preparing regulatory documents, and providing input on content and strategy for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
Kevin Chunn
Business Manager
We are all shook up over Kevin Chunn, our Business Manager Extraordinaire. Hailing from just outside Tupelo, Mississippi—the birthplace of Elvis and his first guitar—Kevin is our resident southern gentleman. He manages all of our behind-the-scenes stuff: project management, invoicing, bookkeeping, and the like. In other words, because of Kevin, the writers are free to write. (You know: a little less conversation, a little more action?) Before joining up with our merry band of medical writers and quality controllers, he spent several years in the manufacturing industry, in safety management and in scheduling/planning/purchasing management. When he’s not busy meticulously keeping our business-y things in line, Kevin enjoys camping, fishing, kayaking, and woodworking with reclaimed wood.
Christine Dale
Medical Writer
Christine has spent the past 25+ years in Pharma/Biotech, with 20+ years as a medical writer. She spent 15 years at Amgen, where she was a director in the Global Regulatory Writing department. Prior to Amgen she worked for Wyeth, American Cyanamid, and Invitron. She is an experienced equestrian who shows locally and also volunteers for Thoroughbred rescue.
Vai Desai

There is nothing that Vai Desai can’t do. She’s a former pharmacist who has conquered this medical writing gig from coast to coast – LA to NYC. In truth, her project teams would follow her all the way to the moon to benefit from the cool, confident, and capable touch she brings to her work. Speak with her once and you know she’s got it covered. Vai brings deep experience, a keen eye for detail, and true pragmatism to everything she does. She resides now in Raleigh, North Carolina, with her husband and daughter. When she’s not slam-dunking regulatory documents, she can be found cooking, checking out a new documentary, or planning their next great family vacation.

Tracy Lovejoy is a pharmacist-turned-Medical Writer and part-time super hero. Okay, the last part might be an embellishment (or is it?), but her can-do attitude and inherent moxie have saved many a day for her project teams. She’s got a deep love of science and language, and is just persnickety enough to keep her documents accurate, precise, and on time. When she’s not writing for a living, she also writes for pleasure. Her other loves include camping and travel, and hanging around with her husband and two sons in their beloved hometown of San Luis Obispo, California.

Maria has 20+ years in the Document publishing area. She was head of the Preclinical/Clinical Publishing Group in Schering Plough. She is an expert with document formatting in Word (Word Expert). Always available to work at a minutes notice.

She and her husband happily split their time between southern California and Sydney, Australia, savoring all opportunities for short jaunts to other exotic locations in between. But, in truth, the real reason we regard her as such is that she can handle any regulatory document with the same smooth, seamless ease as a Harlem Globetrotter handles a basketball. Even the craziest and most complicated set of data are no match for Jean’s amazing skills. Don Smith is kind of a big deal. Having recently been director of regulatory writing at Amgen (see what we mean?), he has led multiple projects in many therapeutic areas, and has expertise with documents spanning all stages of clinical development. His 25 years of experience distinguish him as a true expert at preparing documents that are clear, accurate, well organized, and timely. When Don joins your team, you know you are in good hands because he has seen it all, been there, done that, and lived to tell the tale. When he is not digging into huge scientific documents, Don also delights in digging in the garden, hiking, traveling, and, mostly, enjoying time at home in Camarillo, CA, with his wife, son, and daughter (who, to Don, are the biggest deal of all).
